Thundering Mantis

I revisited my collection of kung-fu films and found one obviously out of the general concept. Not the plot, the plot as always very simple (villains kick ass of the protagonist, and then he learns kung-fu super-style and kicks everyone's ass in return), but the ending... Well, in the end almost all have been killed (this is despite all the jokes that accompany us throughout the film)!

Let's be consistent. The film is known as "Thundering Mantis" (nothing special). Name calls us to drop everything and to learn mantis-style, and also to protect weak and the disadvantaged people.

Intro to the film is the scene of fighting in the red room (similar to the "The Invincible Kung-Fu Legs"), when the main characters in the film demonstrate their technique beating dozens of minor villains.

Next, the film's hero Chi (Leung Kar-yan) meets 12-year-old thief with a plastic of professional gymnast, and grandfather of this thief (the young guy with no wrinkles and with gray wig) of course is a master of kung-fu. In the normal course of business as a small fishmonger, Chi faces a gang of criminals terrorizing the city (according to all these films police is completely passive). Chi can deal with all of them, but as usual, the main villain comes and beats a guy with such blows that forced Chi to retire and seek help from a young grandfather-master.

After it goes a learning process and periodic fights in Chinese taverns, and a 12-year-old boy also strikes the villains left and right. But in the end the main scumbag (Eddie Ko) and his gang took control of the situation and brutally killed grandpa (that's a corpse, and nothing seems didn't foreshadow the tragedy), at the same time cut the owner of fish store, in which Chi traded, catch Chi and 12-year-old gymnast. Our heroes are tied, they are being tortured (hitting with logs and burning with a hot iron), and the boy dies (which surprised me in very bad way).

Seeing the death of a friend, Chi flows into an epileptic fit, breaks the ropes, and despite the received log blows, begins to extinguish the enemies. Epilepsy gradually transformed into a complete madness, Chi twists the legs and hands of opponents in knots, kills the main villain and begins to devour his organs...

At this moment this wonderful picture ends, and I'm sitting shocked with half-eaten sandwich in my hand...
